Landlines is an online multi-user collaborative drawing tool for GPS enabled mobile phones, in which users draw by moving in real space.

visual mapping
We have developed two different visual interfaces to use with Landlines.
A googlemaps application, and a Flash application ‘Mapper’.

Mapper allows you to see routes as live drawings, in collaboration with other users. This is the application that we use for exhibitions and workshops.
We have concentrated on the drawn quality of the line, keeping the whereabouts of users anonymous, and on the resulting map like drawings gradually revealing a place.

We use the googlemaps application to see Landlines tracks superimposed over a map in workshops and other social projects. It allows us to see how a persons activity relates to a map of buildings, roads and landmarks. Images, text and video input through Landlines can also be viewed and edited in this interface.

In both applications there is also the capacity to annotate the map with images that have been taken during a journey.
